  • Live there lives out in the larvae stage of the salamander life cycle

  • Can regenerate lost limbs or gill stalks

  • Do not have eyelids (hence the reason you don't want to leave a light on them for an extended time period)

  • Protected by a slime coat

  • Eat by inhaling everything in front of their mouth.

Habitat and Husbandry

Listed below are a few key things you will need to provide a proper habitat:

  • At least 10 Gallons of tank space per axie

  • At least one hide, preferably one per axie

  • Bare bottom or sand floor (NO GRAVEL)

  • Soft flow water filtration

  •  

    Maintain water temp 57 F- 66 F (15C-19C)

Feeding

Depending on the age of your Axolotl, you have different feeding options:

  • Recently hatched - 2 inches

    • Brine Shrimp

  • 2 inches - 4 inches

    • Blood worms

  • 4 inches- adult

    • Earthworms/ Night Crawlers

    • Fortified Pellet diet

    • Blood worms (as treats)
